Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extra-inning clash where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total over 50 million watchers in the US, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball reported this marks the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest averaged over 27 million audience members on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated World Series matchup after the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent improvement over the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game came in 8th, and Game 3 finished in 13th position.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series averaged over 15.7 million viewers on Fox, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership increases for two straight years.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the total American viewership was over 16 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million viewers, an 8% increase compared to last year and the network’s strongest playoff performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the World Series was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
